Working here means supporting label stock and thermal roll supply for businesses that need accuracy, clean finishing and steady dispatch.

The hands and minds behind the rolls

Our Westmead team works across conversion, sales, planning, support and dispatch. That means the people we hire may spend their day checking face stock options, planning core sizes, packing rolls for courier collection, or helping a customer choose the right adhesive for cold rooms, cartons or short-run labels. It is practical work, with real responsibility.

We value steady judgement over noise. If you can follow a job card, spot a mismatch before it goes out, and keep your note-taking clear, you will fit in well. The pace can change quickly, especially when a run is due for Durban, Johannesburg or Cape Town, so good organisation matters.

Roles we often build around

We do not keep a standing list of vacancies here, but we regularly look for people in the kind of roles that keep a label business moving. Experience helps, yet a strong work ethic and willingness to learn can count just as much.

  • Production and conversion support for slitting, rewinding and roll handling
  • Dispatch and packing work with order checks and courier preparation
  • Customer support and order coordination for repeat jobs and usage questions
  • Planning and stock control for core sizes, roll length and winding direction
  • Sales support for matching label face stock and adhesive to the job

What the day often asks for

Label work is detailed. A roll might need a different liner, a specific thermal coating, or a transfer grade face stock that works better on printheads and barcode use. Some jobs are for retail shelf labels, some for logistics labels, and some for packaging that must stay put in warehouse dust, coastal humidity or handling in transit.

We look for people who can notice the practical things: whether a roll fits the printer, whether the unwind direction is right, whether the pack count matches the order, and whether a sample roll should be checked before a bigger run goes ahead. Small mistakes become expensive later, so care counts.

How we work in Westmead

Our base in Pinetown keeps us close to Durban freight routes and industrial customers across KwaZulu-Natal, with daily supply flowing to other parts of South Africa too. The working environment is hands on and direct. Everyone has a part in keeping production stable, even when power interruptions or last-minute changes put pressure on the day.

  • Clear job notes and accurate handovers
  • Respect for production timing and dispatch cut-offs
  • Practical problem solving when a roll spec changes
  • Care with packaging, labelling and stock movement

Training, growth and the next step

New people are expected to learn fast, ask useful questions and build confidence with the materials we handle. We work with self-adhesive label stock, thermal rolls and order specifications that can change from one customer to the next, so there is real value in people who can grow into the detail.

There may be room to move from support roles into planning, supervisory work or customer-facing coordination if you show consistency and good judgement. We prefer practical growth, where a person proves they can handle more responsibility before taking it on.
